Administrator's Guide to Navigation Menus

The most common menu maintenance procedure using the Cy Think Content Management System is probably adding a new page to an existing menu. So, the procedure for this is given first. Changing and deleting pages in a menu are also covered in this first procedure. The next procedure covers adding, changing and deleting entire menus.

Menus created using these procedures are "live" but changes do not automatically appear in .htm files. HTML files are "static" and the HTML must be published for the changes to take place. Therefore, when you change a menu you may need to re-publish quite a few HTML pages.

It is best to create a page before you add the page to a menu. If you create the menu item first it is possible to get a "File not found" error. This happens when you click on the new menu link but the new page has not been published. For creating a page see the "Page Maintenance" page.

Use of these procedures is controlled by an access control system. You must be signed on and have appropriate authorization to execute these procedures.
